Our Story

Montauk Outfitters was founded in 2012 by two brothers — Mark and Matt — who have a passion for being on the water. We set out to create one-of-a-kind belts that blend our love of the sea with our commitment to excellence.

We grew up on the waters off the East Coast. With a home base in Montauk, NY, we explored the many harbors throughout the northeast, from Bar Harbor, Maine to Bermuda. Since the early 1980’s, we’ve shared a deep-rooted love of the ocean, spending every summer sailing and fishing.

We learned early on that enjoying the coastal lifestyle isn’t all beach days and boat trips… it requires hard work. Having worked as dockhands for years, we developed a shared appreciation for the pride and satisfaction that a well-kept boat bring. It’s from this coastal upbringing that inspired us to create authentic, quality made belts that celebrate life on the water. 

Our products are a celebration of what is possible when you take your passion serious enough to stand behind what you do. Since making our very first belt, we’ve teamed up suppliers who bring a combined 200 years’ worth of experience and a proven track record of quality manufacturing. Our belts are not only designed to last, but they’ll look good for years to come.

We’re proud to be the only belt on the market made from the actual yacht braid used for halyards, sheets and dock lines. We make our belts for people like you who love being out on the water and want to integrate this this passion into their everyday style.
